this month let's talk about...

                                                                            Conserving leaves

The conservation of leaves is a technique used for preserving several types of plants.

The results that can be obtained are excellent.

The most frequently used procedures are:

The immersion in, and use of glycerine.

Using the immersion method you put the material, mainly leaves, in tubs containing special salts and acids. If you

wish to color the leaves this can be done by boiling them in coloured water, prior to putting them into the tubs.

The alternative method involves placing the lower part of the leaves 'stems ,held vertically, into tubs containing a mixture of water and glycerine. If you wish to retouch the colour, all you have to do is add some colouring dye to the water.
